A Good Day in Cagleville

Meet Mac, my husband of almost 8 years. We are lucky to have found each other, after both of our long marriages left us leery about finding love again at all, let alone marrying again.  That story is for another day.

Today was his day.. he was one of the " chosen" few from his elementary school to have one of the children toss a cream pie in their faces.  You can see by his expression, he is not aware yet of what will happen today. He is cute, and blissfully unaware.

This past week at Mac Cagle's school, he found out he was one of ten employees to be " chosen" for the pie in the face, accidentally. Kids kept coming up to him and asking if they"could do the pie". He had no clue what that meant, so he kept saying " Sure". He loves those children, and they adore him. He is the Crew Leader Custodian. Mr. Mike, and every day when they go home, he waits in the halls to give them their Hi Fives in his gravelly voice. I love that voice.

Then he finds out his " collection bucket", with the money going towards a charity hosted by the PTA, is the fullest bucket. Day of pie toss, he needs to choose the tosser amongst " his kids", and he chose Angel... he is bound to a wheel chair.
When my husband enters the pie toss " arena", the crowd chants Mr Mike! Mr Mike! and he got all teared up. Of course, when he got Angel Pie, they all went wild.

Humbled by the love.
 Here comes Angel!!

He came home all excited to tell me about his day, and how moved he was by the chanting of his name by all the children. He said, it was an awesome day, and so it was.
